Acupuncturist
Deborah Hanley LAc
Deborah Hanley is the founder and owner of Acupucture and Co as well as the adjoining tea shop, Tea and Co. She is a New York State licensed Acupuncturist, Board Certified by the NCCAOM in acupuncture, NADA, and a member of ASNY & ACCAOM. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology at St. John’s University and a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from New York School of Health Professions in Syosset, NY. She also worked at the Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx , NY where she mastered the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) detox protocol.
Prior to acupuncture, Deborah worked for 13 years in a Physical Therapy office where her main focus was developing patient exercise programs. She noticed patients with similar injuries responded differently to the same treatment, healing at different rates. Her continued study of exercise and medicine led her to the field of acupuncture. Acupuncture views each person as having their own unique flow of energy (chi) which controls the health of the body, mind and spirit as one allowing Deborah to combine her skills and work with a person's mind and body constitution as well as environment they live in. She finds the acupuncture needles work as a guide to the body's ability to reconnect, heal and strengthen one's entire being. At Acupuncture and Co, Deborah strived to build a place where specialists could look to strengthen a patient's body, increase health enabling the body to not only heal an illness but prevent illness as well.
Deborah is also trained in Pediatric Acupuncture. She has found using gentle techniques with or without needles yields great results. As children are so much more sensitive to medication and the world around them, acupuncture is an effective alternative.
Deborah is a Huntington resident and a mother of 2. She is the former President of Child Abuse Prevention Services on Long Island.
